Please share the beginning of your career journey with us.
My career journey has always been a deliberate pursuit of integration—an effort to bring together law, business, education, and human potential into one cohesive and impactful framework.
I began with formal training in banking, law and business, earning my Juris Doctor and MBA. This dual foundation positioned me at a unique intersection where legal systems meet economic strategy, allowing me to understand not only how institutions operate, but how value is created, structured, and sustained. I was one of the first in the USA to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence, and MBA, and 3 license called Series 7, Series 63, and Series 65,
Early in my professional career, while working as a Wall Street Investment Banker and Wealth Management Professional, I identified a critical gap in the global professional landscape. Across industries and regions, there was a clear lack of structured, internationally recognized pathways for professionals to advance their expertise—particularly in the competency of fields such as finance, project management, and leadership.
This realization became a turning point.
It led me into academia, where I dedicated decades to teaching, research, and curriculum development. Over time, I have taught more than 300 courses across law, business, and wealth management disciplines. During this journey, I also emerged as one of the early e-learning pioneers in introducing wealth management as a formal academic subject within legal education—helping bridge the gap between financial strategy and legal frameworks.
Recognizing the need for scalable and globally relevant standards, I founded the Global Academy of Finance & Management (GAFM®), along with related certification bodies such as the AAPM American Academy of Project Management. From the ground up, I have personally contributed to the development of hundreds of certification programs, learning programs, certification exams, and competency-based frameworks that are now used by professionals around the world. Essentially, I was the Godfather of Vendor Neutral, Skills Certification Programs in the USA.
At the same time, I have always believed in the importance of creative expression. As an author of more than 100 books, as well as a songwriter, engineer, and producer of over 50 released songs, I have explored themes of success, consciousness, wealth, and personal transformation—bringing a more human and philosophical dimension to my work.
Ultimately, my journey reflects a deeper commitment: to building systems that empower individuals—not just to acquire knowledge, but to continuously evolve, adapt, and reach their highest potential.

Within this evolving landscape, my long-term vision is to position GAFM® and its related bodies as a leading global standard-setting organization, comparable to the most established credentialing institutions, yet distinguished by greater accessibility, innovation, and adaptability. The goal is to create a system that not only sets benchmarks for professional excellence but also ensures that high-quality education and certification are available to individuals across all regions and backgrounds.
Looking ahead, I see our role expanding beyond certification into shaping the broader future of education—where technology, global standards, and human development converge. With the US President’s and White House’s recognition of Certifications as equivalent to diplomas, the landscape has changed. Ultimately, the vision is to build a sustainable ecosystem that empowers professionals worldwide to continuously learn, grow, and remain competitive in an ever-changing global economy.

Who has been the most significant source of inspiration in your life?
My inspiration has come from a diverse group of thinkers—individuals who challenged conventional limits and redefined what is possible through knowledge, discipline, and vision.
Writers such as Marcus Aurelius, Ben Franklin, Socrates, and Napoleon Hill have been a foundational influence, particularly through their work on success philosophy and the power of belief. These ideas around definiteness of purpose and disciplined thinking reinforced the importance of mindset in achieving long-term goals.
William Walker Atkinson, Esq. And Prof. Wallace Wattles contributed a perspective cantered on the creative power of thought and the idea that individuals can actively shape their reality. Their work emphasized clarity, intention, and the alignment of action with purpose.
Friedrich Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and Von Goethe offered a more philosophical dimension, challenging individuals to question norms, embrace individuality, and strive toward self-mastery. His ideas encouraged a deeper exploration of human potential and personal evolution.

As the Founder of GAFM®, I established a global certification body that now operates in more than 150 countries, creating a far-reaching platform for professional development and international credentialing.
I have led the development of hundreds of certification programs, examinations, and competency-based standards, contributing to structured and scalable systems that support professionals across diverse industries worldwide.
Our frameworks are aligned with internationally recognized quality standards, including ISO 21001, ISO 29993, and ISO 9001, ensuring consistency, credibility, and excellence in education and training delivery.

I have had the privilege of serving as a White House Presidential Scholars Federal Commissioner, contributing to national-level initiatives focused on education and leadership development.

Mentz is also the Seigneur of the Fief Blondel in Guernsey which is almost a 1,000 year old noble territory, and Mentz is the Lord of the Bailiwick of Ennerdale, Lord of Annaly Teffia and the Lord of the Liberty of Stoborough which makes him a steward of over 20,000 acres of UNESCO Heritage property and environmental natural treasures.

What were the most challenging obstacles you’ve encountered in your career?
One of the most significant challenges has been building new systems in spaces that did not yet fully exist. When we began developing global certification programs and competency-based standards, there was considerable scepticism around their relevance and legitimacy, as many institutions were initially resistant to non-traditional educational pathways.
Regulatory complexity has been a constant challenge when operating across international markets. Fortunately, we have much ease as a certifying body and not a degree selling body in navigating varying legal frameworks, compliance requirements, and accreditation standards across different countries requires continuous adaptation and strategic foresight.
Cultural differences have also played a critical role in shaping global operations. Understanding diverse perspectives, educational expectations, and professional norms is essential to building systems that are both globally relevant and locally adaptable.
Rapid technological change presents an ongoing challenge, requiring continuous innovation to ensure that our platforms, certifications, and learning systems remain aligned with the latest advancements and industry demands.
Maintaining quality at scale has been another key obstacle. As programs expand globally, ensuring that standards remain rigorous, consistent, and credible across all regions requires strong governance and well-defined frameworks.
Balancing multiple roles—including CEO, lawyer, professor, author, and creative professional—has demanded a high level of discipline, time management, and focus. However, this multidimensional approach has ultimately become a unique strength, enabling a broader perspective across industries.
