From A Small Town To Global Fintech Leadership: Anil Mandloi’s Journey

Alejandro Garcia • July 13, 2026

1. Please share the beginning of your career journey with us.

My professional journey began in 2006 in Pune, Maharashtra, India, as a junior-level developer, and born and brought up in a small town in Madhya Pradesh, India, at a time when access to technology was extremely limited—no widespread internet, few computers, and no social media or online learning platforms. Coming from a background with constrained resources, I became self-taught in programming, driven by sheer curiosity and determination. What started as personal exploration quickly turned into a passion for sharing knowledge: I began teaching computer fundamentals and programming basics to local students and enthusiasts at a small computer institute. Watching young minds light up with the possibilities of technology was profoundly inspiring and taught me early on that technology is a powerful equalizer and enabler of opportunity.

This foundation of resilience, continuous self-learning, and giving back shaped my entire career. I started professionally as a Software Engineer at MetrixLine, building enterprise tracking systems. Over the next 19+ years, I progressed through roles at Zensar Technologies, Mphasis Ltd., Silicus (Infogain), and Cognizant, gaining deep expertise in system design, distributed systems, and enterprise applications. In 2018, I was joined as Technical Manager at MindTree, where I led policy management platforms. then, I joined American Express in Phoenix as a consultant through Intraedge Inc. and in 2022 I joined as senior engineer as full time employee at American express and Here, my role evolved into that of Technical Lead and Architect, where I now oversee the architecture and delivery of critical global onboarding platforms—including Instant Membership, Card Activation, and Digital Account Services—serving customers across the US and 20+ countries.

The arc from a resource-scarce small town to architecting systems that impact millions of users worldwide has been one of relentless curiosity, adaptability, and purpose. Every step reinforced my belief that great technology leadership combines technical depth with empathy, clear communication, and a commitment to meaningful outcomes.
