Edition – Shaping the Future: Leaders Making a Difference in 2025 – Vol. 1

Tech leaders see AI as the defining technology for 2025, yet 82% of companies admit that realizing its full value remains a challenge. Increasingly, technology leaders are stepping into critical decision-making roles, with 69% of Fortune 500 tech officers now holding seats on executive committees. To bridge the gap between potential and performance, 88% of leaders emphasize that AI investments hinge on enhanced training, and 77% consider upskilling essential to achieving their transformation goals.

In this rapidly evolving landscape, Shaping the Future: Leaders Making a Difference in 2025 – Vol. 1 proudly spotlights Gaurav Kr. Roy, Chief Technology Officer (CTO – East Asia) and Board Director at Keychron and Artsvila. Gaurav’s visionary leadership and strategic expertise position him at the forefront of technological innovation, driving transformative change across industries while shaping the future of intelligent solutions.

Let’s begin his journey in his own words: “Please share the beginning of your career journey with us.”

The dream of becoming a tech leader was never easy for a small-town boy like me. I’ve always been fascinated by technology, programming, hacking, and gadgets. At the age of 8, I was introduced to a computer at home—thanks to my uncle. It was the first computer in our entire town, and from that moment, the nerd within me grew exponentially. By the age of 10, I was already well-versed in programming and tackling complex computer problems. My school teachers at BLS used to call me “Computer Keeda” (which translates to “Computer Bug”).

At 11, I designed my first virus, unintentionally causing trouble for both my uncle and the computer. Throughout my school years—9th through 12th grade—I continued to immerse myself in computer science, consistently scoring the highest marks in my town.

Coming from a small town in Assam, India, I began my formal journey in technology with a Bachelor of Computer Applications, majoring in programming. At just 19, while pursuing my degree, I launched my freelance career with w3schools.com, a leading U.S.-based tech tutorial platform, gaining valuable international exposure early on. Impressed by my writing style and technical expertise, companies like GeeksforGeeks, Sanfoundry, TutorialsPoint, TpointTech, Unacademy, Byju’s, StudyTonight, STechies, Scalar, and others approached me for collaborations. By the age of 20, I was earning ₹45,000 regularly—but I knew I wanted to achieve more.

After completing my graduation in my hometown, I followed my passion for cybersecurity, inspired by the legendary Kevin Mitnick, and moved to New Delhi to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security under EC Council University, USA. There, I specialized in red teaming, data privacy, and cyber forensics, while earning certifications like CEH, CHFI, ECSA, LPT, CASE (.NET), OWASP10, CCNA, and CND.

During this period, I received job offers from TCS, Bytehash, Lucideus Tech, Stellar InfoTech, and even from my own institute as a professor. I accepted the teaching role for a few months before pursuing a Master’s Degree at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Efficient Programming with a specialization in Interactive Application Development. LPU helped me become a versatile professional, sharpening my public speaking, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills—while also nurturing my love for dance and music. I won multiple entrepreneurship awards and competitions, which strengthened my business acumen, and I also mentored juniors in various tech subjects.

Before completing my master’s, I secured in-house placement offers from TCS, IBM, Amazon, Digital Jalebi, and others. I chose Digital Jalebi in Bengaluru as an Interactive App Developer while continuing freelance work with top firms such as AWS, YouTube, TOI, and DRDO.

Digital Jalebi, being a startup, offered limited growth opportunities, so I moved to Synopsys Inc. as an R&D Engineer and Tech Writer, later earning a promotion to a senior role in New Delhi. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I returned home and transitioned to a senior remote role at LoginRadius. At the same time, I launched my own training institute, offering online and offline programs for corporate employees and college students on subjects like AI/ML, Cloud Computing, Code Optimization, Networking, Cybersecurity, Interactive Application Development, and Blockchain. Being a topper and gold medallist in my master’s batch gave me an advantage in securing placements and promotions.

After three successful years at LoginRadius, I received an exciting opportunity from a former student who had co-founded Credkeys, later acquired by Keychron. He offered me an interview for the Product Chief Head position at Keychron India. I cleared the process and was soon promoted to Chief Technology Officer (East Asia). In this executive role, I helped boost the company’s profit margin from 12–13 million to 52.6 million.

Beyond corporate achievements, I hold an India Book of Records (IBR) title for publishing the maximum number of courses across 15+ platforms, impacting over 500,000 students globally. I’ve also mentored future entrepreneurs like Divyajyoti Chakraborty (CEO of Artsvila) and Sandeep Verma (CEO of EncodersPro)—both my former students—who went on to establish successful startups. Today, I serve as Advisor at EncodersPro and Board Director at Artsvila, while also launching my own venture, Fossilizer, specializing in fully customized tear-down frames.

Recently, I was appointed as a member of the Information Technology Development Board of India, which allows me to run my own diploma and advanced diploma courses. I’m a guest lecturer at Lovely Professional University, NIT Trichy, Assam University, and several other institutions. My expertise spans software development, security, networking, efficient programming, and strategic leadership.

In 2025, on Teachers’ Day, I was honored by C-DAC (New Delhi) as one of the best trainers in the country. In the field of cybersecurity, I’ve earned multiple recognitions, a Hall of Fame, and the title of Elite Hacker by EC Council. I have also authored two books: “Cybersecurity and Digital Privacy” (Highbrow Scribes Publication, India) and “Machine Learning and Data Analytics for Predicting, Managing, and Monitoring” (IGI Global, USA). Additionally, I work as a part-time researcher and research paper reviewer for IJISP, a Scopus-indexed journal under IGI Global.

From business acumen and leadership to mentoring professionals worldwide, I have dedicated my career to shaping technology that empowers people. I continue to predict trends in tech with precision, and the recommendations on my LinkedIn profile reflect my commitment to driving innovation and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

Rather than letting the lack of local resources hold him back, Gaurav turned to the internet as his mentor, using online platforms to expand his knowledge and skills.

His determination led him to Delhi, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science and earned multiple certifications to build a strong foundation in technology. Seeking further growth, he moved to Punjab to complete his Master’s Degree in Applied Computer Science. Gaurav’s journey from a small town with minimal tech exposure to becoming a recognized leader in the industry is a testament to his resilience, adaptability, and commitment to turning challenges into opportunities.
