“My journey began at the very foundation of the energy system—quite literally in electric manholes—and evolved all the way to executive boardrooms. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in progressive leadership roles at major utilities such as Con Edison, PSE&G, PEPCO, and FirstEnergy. Those early years in the field shaped everything that came after. Working hands-on with the grid taught me respect for infrastructure, safety, and reliability, and it grounded my understanding of how deeply energy systems affect everyday life.
As my career progressed, I moved into managing multi-billion-dollar capital programs and leading large-scale transformation initiatives. I found myself at the center of the energy transition—driving digital transformation, grid modernization, and resilience planning at a time when utilities were being pushed to evolve faster than ever before. That experience showed me something critical: modernizing the grid isn’t just about technology. It’s about leadership, change management, and bridging the gap between legacy engineering and the regenerative, high-tech future required to achieve 100% clean energy.
That realization ultimately led me into entrepreneurship. As a two-time CEO and Founder of Electric Bridge Consulting and the 100% Energy Club, I built platforms designed to do exactly that—bridge gaps. Gaps between theory and practice, between today’s infrastructure and tomorrow’s needs, and between what organizations know and what they must understand to move forward with confidence. Today, my work spans six continents, supporting utilities, governments, and organizations as they navigate reliability, resilience, sustainability, and innovation.
The moment Electric Bridge Consulting truly took shape is still vivid for me. I was standing near the Oakland Bay Bridge on a fall night in San Francisco, reflecting on how bridges are more than steel and concrete—they are enablers of civilization. That’s when it clicked. The energy industry needed its own kind of bridge. I founded Electric Bridge Consulting to mitigate current and future energy gaps and to connect legacy systems with the future of AI, digital twins, smart grids, renewables, and cybersecurity.
My journey took another defining turn when I was selected as the first manager to lead a “Utility of the Future” group. That role immersed me deeply in sustainability, allowing me to lead 100% solar penetration strategies and multi-billion-dollar Clean Energy Future initiatives. Out of that experience, the 100% Energy Club was born—not as a traditional consulting model, but as a movement focused on radical yet practical disruption. The mission has always been clear: decode complexity for clients and help them achieve 100% clean and renewable energy in a way that is reliable, resilient, and cost-effective.
At its core, my career has always been about impact—designing systems that work in the real world, educating the next generation through my roles as an Adjunct Professor and author, and ensuring that the future of energy is not only clean, but dependable and inclusive” – Dr. Ahmed Mousa.

What are your long-term goals, and where do you envision yourself in the coming years?

“My long-term vision is centered on the complete decarbonization of the global energy value chain. Being named a Top Global Disruptor in 2026 affirmed what I’ve been working toward for decades—leading the transition to an AI-driven grid defined by intelligent substations, advanced energy control centers, and autonomous, resilient systems. In the coming years, I see myself at the helm of this transformation, shaping how utilities evolve and how clean energy is deployed at scale.
I want my consulting firms to be the go-to global destination for solving complex energy challenges—whether that means modernizing legacy infrastructure, designing 100% clean energy roadmaps, or hardening grids for resilience and reliability. Just as important to me is working closely with the next generation of leaders—engineers, innovators, and entrepreneurs—who will carry this work forward.
Energy equity is also core to my vision. My work on rural electrification initiatives, such as projects supporting underserved regions in Bangladesh, reflects my commitment to ensuring that the energy transition delivers real social and economic impact—improving education, income, and quality of life. These global efforts are a fundamental part of my firms’ mission to bridge legacy systems with 21st-century clean energy goals across six continents.
I also see myself continuing to serve as a catalyst for innovation—mentoring startups, advising venture capital firms, and judging international energy ventures that are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Through my newest startup, Di$rupt, launched in 2025, I’m challenging outdated utility models and accelerating the adoption of autonomous intelligent grid technologies. My philosophy is simple: there are those who ask permission, and those who seek forgiveness—I aim to engineer solutions so compelling they redefine the rules entirely.
At the core of everything I do is clarity. I believe deeply in simplifying complexity through rigorous, evidence-based market research and practical engineering insight. Whether through my books, my advisory work, or my leadership at Electric Bridge Consulting and the 100% Energy Club, my goal is to make the path to a 100% clean energy future practical, data-driven, and achievable.
Ultimately, I envision my firms operating as a kind of global control center for grid transformation—advising policymakers on clean energy mandates while simultaneously nurturing the startups and technologies that will make those mandates a reality. My role is to be a voice of pragmatic disruption: bold in ambition, grounded in data, and relentless in execution” – Dr. Ahmed Mousa.
What were the most challenging obstacles you’ve encountered in your career?
“The most persistent challenge in my career has been overcoming legacy inertia—particularly while working with Electric Bridge Consulting. Convincing a century-old industry to adopt intelligent systems, digital twins, and large-scale energy transformation requires far more than technical expertise. It demands strong change-management leadership and a fundamentally new approach to planning for the future. Along the way, I’ve had to navigate political transitions, constantly evolving customer requirements, extreme weather events, an aging workforce, limited budgets, and the increasing pressure to deliver reliability and resiliency at scale.
Another significant obstacle has emerged through my work with the 100% Energy Club—what I call the regulatory gap. Technology advances at lightning speed, while policy often moves far more slowly. As an advisor, my responsibility is to bridge that divide, ensuring regulations such as FERC 2222 and 100% clean energy mandates align with real-world grid physics, load forecasting, and operational realities. Closing this gap is critical to turning ambitious energy goals into practical, resilient solutions” – Dr. Ahmed Mousa.
Who has been the most significant source of inspiration in your life?
“I’ve been truly blessed to draw inspiration from many priceless sources throughout my life and career.
First and foremost, my father shaped my earliest understanding of leadership. Growing up, I watched him coach and support his teams with integrity, using his experience and courage to challenge executive decisions when he believed they could negatively impact the company. That example stayed with me and continues to guide how I lead today.
I am also deeply inspired by divine guidance. My Islamic teachings instilled in me the importance of supporting one another, working collaboratively, caring for the climate and the less fortunate, and striving to be productive and efficient. These values have been foundational in my international consulting work and in how I view responsibility beyond business.
My wife, Sara, has been my backbone and greatest supporter. Her unwavering belief in me is the reason I pursued my Ph.D., and her strength continues to anchor every major step I take.
Interestingly, resistance itself has been one of my greatest inspirations. The pushback against my innovative ideas and unconventional ways of thinking has only strengthened my resolve to challenge norms and create meaningful change.
Finally, I’ve been fortunate to learn from exceptional mentors and leaders—Jairo and Elie, two engineering legends I had the privilege of working for at Con Edison, along with Bob Schimmenti, who served as my executive mentor. Their leadership, discipline, and vision left a lasting imprint on my professional journey” – Dr. Ahmed Mousa.
